I molded this mask from my own screaming face in frustration towards my abusers and parents after finding out that I had PTSD from a young age. I first started to craft it from tinfoil and paper mache, but I wasn't satisfied with its stiffness so I coated it in fiberglass. It was my first time working with fiberglass. I painted the outside according to how I felt I presented to the world, and the inside according to how I felt on the inside. I then applied an excessive 7 layers of clear coat. The colors and shapes are representative of feelings and emotions. This mask was cataloged by mental health professionals on two occasions while going through trauma therapy. This was the first piece of art I had intentionally created since I was a teenager.
