For an observational drawing, I took a photo of the fire pit in our backyard and drew it. While completing the physical observation I was inspired to do a symbolic observation of what an intentional fire means to me. Last year I attended my first “burner” music festival. At these festivals, volunteers build structures where attendees can leave things like letters and memorabilia to be burned in a ceremony at the end of the festival and release the energy they’ve been holding onto.
