I was a club member and volunteer for Club Didi and Theatre Outre from 2016 to 2019. It was a venue for 2SLGBTQI+ people to enjoy live entertainment performed by 2SLGBTQI+ people. There were drag shows, plays, rave nights, dance nights we called "panti raids", comedy nights, clothing swaps, support nights, etc. I volunteered there as security for the dance nights, set builder and A/V tech for drag shows and plays, and I performed on stage a couple of times. They soon became my chosen family and Mama Didi, the drag mother of the club, became my best friend. One of my most healing and memorable experiences there was at one of the Naked Monologues. At this event I read 3 of my poems, Long Middle Finger, Today I Felt You, and Falling to My Knees, in front of the crowd while I was totally naked. These poems were about a guy that I met at Club Didi who ended up breaking my heart. After I read these grieving poems in the same spot on the floor that had I first danced with him, the crowd erupted in applause. I gained a lot of inspiration from them and it was where I gained confidence to debuted my gender bending outfits. My creativity grew a lot before the club was closed after politics in Lethbridge changed that cause a loss of public funding that had kept the theatre club open for over 10 years.
