I painted this piece over 16 hours straight while in an altered state of mind during one of the hardest times of my life: when I was an intravenous drug user. The inspiration for this piece came from the feelings I was having for one of the first guys I ever dated. It encompasses the love I had when I felt like I wasn’t allowed to love him. Not that I knew what love was at that age, but that was the inspiration for it.
